What you need to know about 2023’s Northumberland County Christmas Parades

When and where to find Santa Clause in Northumberland County this year.

The holidays are fast approaching this year. Northumberland County has several upcoming Santa Clause parades to kick off the holiday festivities.

Here is our list to find out where all the fun is happening:

LOCATION/TIME

FRIDAY  November 17 | Brighton – 7:00pm

Starting at 7pm, the Parade will leave the intersection of Dundas and Alice and head straight towards Prince Edward Street, making a left on Prince Edward Street down to Main street where the Parade will take a right and continue on to Maplewood Avenue. Taking a left onto Maplewood Avenue to continue onto Chapel Street where the Parade will continue straight until it reaches Prince Edward Street again. From Prince Edward Street, the Parade will take a right down Elizabeth Street and end at Terry Fox Drive.


SUNDAY November 19 | Newcastle – 5:30pm

 The Newcastle Santa Parade is a wonderful event starting with a fantastic fireworks display at 5:30 pm followed by entries that range from marching bands, to clowns and beautifully light up floats that children of all ages enjoy. The parade will proceed easterly from North Street along King Avenue to Arthur / Brookhouse street in the east.


SATURDAY  November 25 | Orono -10:30am

Come and join Orono in welcoming Santa Claus. The town crier, floats, bands and many surprise visitors will escort the jolly man himself. Free hot chocolate will be available in front of town hall. Proudly supported by the Orono D.B.I.A. and the Santa Claus Parade Committee. Starting on North Mill Lane, going south Mill St to Main St., then south on Main St to Station St. Finally east on Station St to the Fairgrounds., Orono


SATURDAY  November 25 | Port Hope 1:00pm

Find a spot along the parade route to watch the lively procession. All spectators are asked to please be respectful of others along the route and bring along layers, snacks and supplies to stay comfortable while you wait for the colorful procession.

This year’s parade will feature live music, floats and displays from many local businesses and community groups. Bring along a food item as the Fare Share Food Bank will be collecting non-perishable food items and the Rotary will be collecting parade donations.


SATURDAY November 25 | Campbellford – 1:30pm 

Float line-up begins at 1:00pm on Ranney Street North, between Market Street and Front Street North. Official start of the parade is at Front and Market Street (Sharpe’s Food Market). Santa and his reindeer will be looping through the downtown by taking Market Street to Front Street, then to River Street and back up Doxsee Avenue.

THE BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC FROM 2 PM TO APPROXIMATELY 2:45 PM.

The Campbellford Rotary and Junior C Rebels will be collecting for the food bank, so bring your non-perishable food items.

Don’t forget your letters, Santa’s elves will be walking the route to collect them.


SATURDAY  November 25 | Colborne  – 7:00pm

Join Cramahe this year in welcoming Santa, this years theme will be Christmas on the Farm.


SATURDAY  November 25 | Norwood – 7:00pm

Hosted by the Norwood Legion Branch 300. Attendees can expect a food and toy drive, fireworks, hot chocolate provided by Branch 300 and candy donated by the Norwood. Attendees will even be able to meet the jolly big man himself after the parade.
 
FRIDAY  DECEMBER 1 | Warkworth – 7:00pm

The Warkworth Santa Claus Parade Committee have been busy little elves organizing and planning and they are excited to announce that on Dec 1st at 7pm, the Warkworth Santa Claus Parade will once again be marching through the streets of Warkworth! The theme for 2023 is “The Magic of Christmas”. There will be marching bands, animals and of course community floats. Judges will be awarding a $100 prize to parade participants in each of the following categories:
* Best Theme
* Best Commercial
* Best Dressed Animal
* Largest Group
* Best Overall



SATURDAY December 2 | Cobourg – 6:00pm

The parade route travels along King Street, starting at the library and travelling east through downtown to D’Arcy Street. This year, there will be judging in the following categories: Best Commercial Float, Best Non-Commercial Float, Best Themed Float, and People’s Choice Award.

Kids can once again bring letters to Santa to be collected at the start of the parade by “Canada Post elves.”

Starts at the Five Corners: William and King at the Library, through to D’Arcy. King Street along the route will be closed to parking from 3pm until the parade ends.


SUNDAY December 3 | Castleton – 2:00pm

Castleton’s 7th Annual Santa Claus Pet Parade. Dogs, Horses, Donkeys and Special Guests. On Spring Street in Castleton. This year the event fund-raising will benefit 2 local animal rescues:   Primrose Donkey Sanctuary and Northumberland Cat Adoptions.  You’ve undoubtedly heard about the great things that the folks at Primrose do each and every day for their donkeys.   We salute their loving care and expertise in ensuring these animals live out their lives in a happy and comfortable way.  

Meanwhile, Northumberland Cat Adoptions has taken in hundreds of stray and unwanted cats in the past number of years.   Northumberland Cat Adoptions ensures these animals are all spayed/neutered and stabilized before being adopted out to their forever homes.  


SATURDAY December 9 | Keene – 10:00am

The Parade will start at 42 Pinecrest Avenue. The Parade will continue on to county road 2 and stop at the fire hall.
