The Ontario Government is Supporting Kids Today for a Better Tomorrow
Cobourg, ON – Today, local MPP David Piccini announced the Ontario Government is supporting Rebound Child and Youth Services through the province’s Ontario Trillium Foundation totalling $444,700 making a positive impact on the families and children of Northumberland County.
Since 2020, the organization has been focused on delivering programs thanks to receiving a $309,600 Grow grant in 2020 and a $135,100 Resilient Communities Fund grant in 2022. This financial support from the Ontario Government and OTF has been instrumental in advancing the development of the transformative Family Check-Up (FCU) program and the Collaborative 14 and Under Intervention Program (CUIP), significant additions to the thriving Family Wellness Hub at Rebound.

Using the Grow grant it received, Rebound’s strategic planning process identified critical service gaps, emphasizing the urgent need for intensive parenting and familial support post-COVID 19. In response, Rebound forged a collaborative partnership with McMaster Health Sciences team, McMaster University, and the Offord Centre for Child Studies. Thanks to the grant, the Family Check-Up program employs an integrated evidence-based approach, utilizing interviews, questionnaires, and video-based feedback to collaboratively set applicable goals and create plans, assisting families in achieving their desired outcomes.
The group’s Resilient Communities Fund grant has helped its Collaborative 14 and Under Intervention Program (CUIP) significantly expand Rebound’s commitment to providing comprehensive support. Specifically crafted to aid children aged 14 and under in navigating personal challenges arising at home, school, or within the community, CUIP is tailored for young individuals grappling with trauma, victimization, school suspensions, risk-taking and/or anti-social behaviors, chronic school absenteeism, violence, or bullying. The program has demonstrated positive outcomes, positively influencing the lives of children, youth, and families, further underscoring Rebound’s unwavering dedication to the well-being of Northumberland County’s families.
“Thanks to the generous support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and our collaborative partnerships, we have provided crucial support to over 170 families in Northumberland County through our FCU program and 96 children and youth through our CUIP Program. We remain committed to their well-being through our new Family Wellness Hub – recognizing the need for ongoing focus on youth and family wellness. We are truly grateful for the support that OTF has provided to Rebound,” stated Nicole Wood, Executive Director of Rebound Child & Youth Services.
