Celebrating Community and Wellness: 2025 Seniors Seminar & BBQ with MPP David Piccini in Port Hope

June 19, 2025

Over 100 Attendees and just over 40 Vendors Gather to Celebrate Accessibility, Wellness, and Connection at Port Hope Town Recreation Centre

Port Hope, ON — On Thursday, MPP David Piccini joined the Municipality of Port Hope to host a Seniors Seminar and barbeque at the Town Park Recreation Centre. The event brought together local seniors, caregivers, and service providers for an afternoon of connection, learning, and community-building in celebration of Seniors Month.

MPP Piccini was happy to see such a great turnout from local seniors and families. The seminar took place inside the Recreation Centre and was followed by a barbeque outside in the new Inclusive Oasis — an accessible outdoor space made possible through funding from the Ontario Government’s Inclusive Community Grant.

Over 40 local organizations and service providers were on hand to offer information and support on health care, public safety, and senior services. Groups such as Community Care Northumberland, Northumberland Community Paramedicine, Cobourg Public Library, and Port Hope Police Service participated, giving seniors and caregivers a chance to connect with valuable community resources.

The event offered attendees a chance to learn about senior wellness, available community supports, and government programs designed for older adults. It also highlighted the importance of creating inclusive spaces where seniors and people with disabilities feel welcome, supported, and engaged.

With sunny weather, great food, and a warm sense of community, the afternoon gave seniors and families a meaningful opportunity to spend time together, build connections, and discover new ways to stay involved close to home.
